Obituary for Francis Lavern "Frank" Walker

Francis L. “Frank” Walker was born in Missouri Valley, Iowa on January 22, 1947 and left us to answer Heavens call on February 12, 2018.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, James & Minnie Walker; brother, Jim; and sister, Beulah.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanie; son, Jason; and grandson Austin; sister and brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Frank began his career with “OFD” on January 3, 1972. He was a member of Local 385 and served as past president of The Helmet Club.

He and Jeanie were married on February 3, 1973.

Frank retired in August 2002 as a Battalion Chief after serving 30 years and 8 months. You would sometimes hear him say “I had a great career as a “fireman”, but I have the best job now retirement.”

In 2004 Frank and Jeanie relocated from Nebraska to Southern Missouri to begin the next chapter in their life. Frank had many interests and hobbies, deer hunting, fishing, wood carving, riding his Harley, making special lights for night fishing, and growing his famous tomatoes! If he had an idea for something, he usually made it happen. What he loved most was deer hunting in Nebraska and any fishing trip with Jason, or just tinkering on some project in the garage together. On many occasions his good buddies from Omaha would join him and Jason on the annual night fishing trip to Bull Shoals Lake. Even if the fishing wasn’t the best, it didn’t matter, it was the fun of being together “telling stories”, listening to “old tunes” and sometimes riding out the rain.

Frank loved being a grandpa, enjoying every minute of time and new adventures with Austin.

Frank joined the Bass Pro Team in 2010 working in Operations Support. He loved to pull out his cell phone and share photos of the “big deer” from Nebraska, “Coolers” of fish caught, his giant tomato vines he grew in the backyard, Austin’s visits with us, and pictures of “Pepper”, our Schnauzer.

Frank was an amazing man with great wit and humor. He loved his family and life and was loved by many. Whenever someone would visit, he always made them feel welcome and like family. There are not enough words to express how much he will be missed. He will be forever in our hearts.
