Louis Anthony  Sable
Louis Anthony Sable, age 83, of Rogersville, Missouri passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at his home.

Louis was born on June 16, 1934 in Wamego, Kansas the son of Henry Francis Sable and Alice Viola (Weltsch) Sable.

As a boy and young man, he was very involved in the Boy Scouts, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. He worked for the newspaper in Wamego, Kansas, during high school and the Kansas State University student newspaper while in college. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1957 with a degree in technical journalism. He married Mary Therese “Tess” Wieland on August 17, 1957. He worked for town newspapers in Kansas and Missouri before being hired by the Kansas City (Missouri) Board of Realtors. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1957 to 1963. In 1966 he became executive vice president of the Greater Springfield (Missouri) Board of Realtors, a position he held until his retirement in 1999. He was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, including the Fourth Degree. He held numerous elected and appointed positions in the Knights of Columbus, including grand knight and district deputy. He was one of the original parishioners of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Springfield, Missouri. He was a member of Knights of Columbus St. Anne Council 698 before becoming a charter member of Holy Spirit Council 9533. He also worked many years as a disaster relief volunteer with the American Red Cross. A lifelong do-it-yourselfer, he did much of the construction of the home and farm in Rogersville where he and his wife have lived for nearly 40 years, and where his children grew up. For much of his life, he was a businessman by day and a farmer on nights and weekends. In retirement, he took up the hobbies of woodcarving, wine and beer-making.

Louis is survived by his wife, Mary Therese “Tess” Sable of the home; his son, Jeffrey Joseph Sable and his wife Helen of Memphis, Tennessee, his daughter, Angela Marie Boedecker of Liberty, Missouri; three grandchildren, Peter Anthony Sable, Karl Joseph Sable and Noah Scott Boedecker; one brother, Francis Sable of Wamego, Kansas; and a sister, Mary Jean Delpup and her husband Ron of Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Mark Sable, John Sable and Joseph Sable.

A Rosary Service will be held at 5:00 pm on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Springfield with a visitation to follow the rosary until 6:30 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 am Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Monsignor Thomas Reidy celebrant. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Springfield.
