Obituary for Donnie Wayne Wagoner Jr.

Donnie Wayne  Wagoner Jr.
Donnie was born in Wichita, KS September 28, 1976 to Edgar William Mitchell and Agnes Marie Burden. He departed this life October 9, 2017 at the age of 41. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Thomas and Edgar William Mitchell, Jr., sister, Jennifer Burden, niece Stacy Mitchell, and nephew Nicklous Johnson.

Donnie is survived by his son, Zacharia Wagoner of Springfield MO, sister Lisa Valdez of Kansas City, MO and brother Chris Wagoner (Christy) of Balch Springs, TX, sisters Carin and Carol of Elk City, OK, brother Eugene Dechaume of Kerens, TX, special niece, Jennifer Alcorn of Topeka, KS, special nephew, Justin Valdez of Kansas City, MO, nieces, Chasity Wagoner, Lisa Grindel, Brittney Grindel, great niece, Hope Marie Johnson of Topeka, KS, and numerous extended family members.

Donnie is also survived by his “adopted parents”, David and Linda Brown and Chris Maples, a special friend, Amanda, brothers Darrell and Larry, friends, Cherie Roderick, Heather Kennedy, Jim & Paige Payne.

Donnie was creative, he loved to cook, paint and play video games. When he first arrived in Springfield, he lived at the Missouri Hotel and soon became a helper to Sister Lorraine, Ellie Widmeyer and his “Aunty Jane”. He was a board member of the Gathering Tree and a constant pillar of the Gathering Tree community. He was the resident doctor, janitor, bouncer, cook, whatever needed to be done, he did it. His passion was his friends, helping his homeless brothers and sisters on the street. He never met a stranger. He would do anything for us, his family, he always had our backs, our hearts are broken and he will never be forgotten.

Donnie was instrumental in the creation of Eden Village and the new memorial garden will bear his name. Memorial contributions may be made to Eden Village, P.O. Box 2364, Springfield, MO 65801.

A memorial gathering will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday October 14, 2017 at The Gathering Tree 634 W. Wall Street Springfield, MO.
