Obituary for Donald DeVos

Donald  DeVos
Donald Dean DeVos, 78 of Springfield passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 in Maranatha Lodge in Springfield, Missouri. He was born June 26, 1939 in Knoxville, Iowa to Jess and Cleta (Noftsger) DeVos. Donald was a Godly man who was a Sunday School teacher, served on the Board of Deacons and as Sunday School Superintendent and loved his church family. He loved spending time with his family. Don enjoyed Sprint Car and NASCAR Racing.

Donald was a hard worker and had extensive knowledge about cars. He was a Ford man through and through. He was also quite creative, often creating wonderful items from seemingly random pieces. He enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia and had an extensive NASCAR collection. Don had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed teasing those whom he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Dena Deitrick and Dorothy Friday, his brothers, Jess Jr., Paul Amos, William John and Richard Lee.

Donald is survived by his wife, Theda; his children, Brenda Pike (Jonathan) of Battlefield, Missouri, Charles Dean DeVos (Helen) of Osceola, Iowa, and Robert Eugene DeVos (Janice) of Bella Vista, Arkansas; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Seth, Charlie, Melody, Zach, Victoria, Aaron, Matthew and Joshua; 11 great grandchildren, Ella, Tyler, Emma, Ryan, Jolene, Jayne, Julia, Jacob, Lukas, Olivia and Carter; three sisters, Luetta Martinache, Doris Smith and Emma Jean Chapman; one brother, Harold DeVos (Tomalee) and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Chapel, 500 E. Walnut Street Springfield, Missouri, with Chaplain Sophia Garcia officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Committal services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2017 in Greenwood Cemetery Knoxville, Iowa.
