Obituary for Ethel Mary Breithaupt

Ethel Mary Breithaupt, age 74, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on Monday evening, August 14, 2017 at her home.

She was born August 15, 1942 in Duluth, Minnesota, the daughter of Frank John Pohl and Angeline Louise (Bester) Pohl.

On June 29, 1963, she married Stanley C. Breithaupt in Beeville, Texas. He preceeded her in death on March 29, 2001.

Ethel was the Library Resource Teacher working in the WINGS program for many years. She helped with the development of the Gifted Education program here in Springfield and was on the Board of the Gifted Association of Missouri formerly serving as the Treasurer. Ethel was an active parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Springfield, having served as the Heart to Heart Ladies Group President. She volunteered at The Summit Preparatory School where her granddaughter attends school. Ethel also enjoyed her water aerobics at the Meyer Center three times a week where she spent time with her friends. Most of all she loved her family and enjoyed time with her beautiful granddaughter, Emily.

Ethel is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ellen & Chris Chindlund of Springfield; her granddaughter, Emily; two sisters, Roberta Fleming of Frankfort, Kentucky, Irene Livingston and her husband Ken of Springfield, Missouri; two brothers, Howard Pohl and his wife Dee of Springfield, Missouri, Larry Pohl and his wife Gail of Dayton, Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley; three sisters, Carol Justus, Janice Wilkinson, Karen Campbell; two brother, Richard Pohl and Albert Pohl.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Springfield with a Rosary Service to follow at 7:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Springfield with Father Masilamani, celebrant. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Springfield.
