Obituary for David Ray Fenton

David Ray  Fenton
David Fenton, 55, of Republic, Missouri passed away on July 3, 2017 in Springfield, Missouri. David was born in Aurora, Missouri on March 17, 1962 to Jerry and Ada Lou Fenton. He graduated from Kickapoo High School in Springfield in 1980 and received his bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University.

In 1995 he married the love of his life, Rebecca Ann Loving. This marriage brought two beautiful daughters, Christyn and Lauryn.

David started his firefighting career as a volunteer firefighter for the Republic Fire Department. He retired from the Springfield Fire Department as a Battalion Chief, having worked his way through the ranks. David will always be remembered for his calm and deliberate approach to crisis situations. He was at his best when called upon to make critical decisions under pressure.

Following his retirement David was the Director of Transportation for the Republic School District. David had a strong and sustained work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit. He was successful in a number of private business ventures. He was always engaged in productive endeavors whether as a public servant or as a private businessman.

David was highly respected for his servant leadership. This dedication to public service was exemplified by his career as a professional firefighter and by his volunteer service on numerous community and civic boards. He was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by his wife, Becky, his daughters, Christyn and Lauryn Fenton of the home, parents Jerry and Ada Lou Fenton of Republic, Missouri, his sister, Darla Shannon of Republic, three nephews, two great nephews, two great nieces and a host of loving friends.

Services will be at the OneLife Church of the Nazarene, 3245 S. Kansas Ave, Springfield, Missouri on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 12:00 noon with visitation from 10 a.m. until 12. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Republic, Missouri.
