Mary Louise Roberts, Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at the age of 100. She was born May 7, 1916, in Denton, NE, the daughter of Marland M. and Mary Ellen Baughman. Preceding her in death were her husband Eugene; parents; and her 4 brothers, Delbert, Everett, Virgil and Arthur. She is survived by three children, Richard (Peggy) of Spring Hill, TN, John L. "Larry" of Jonesborough, TN, and Patricia Ruby (Douglas) of Groton, MA; grandchildren, Angela Roberts, Indianapolis, IN, Andrea Pierson (Jeff), Indianapolis, IN, Tobin Roberts, Overland Park, KS, John L. Roberts Jr. (Kristi) of Charleston, SC, Joana C. Roberts of Norton, OH, Michelle Ruby of Manchester, NH, and Gregory Ruby of Nottingham, NH. In addition, six great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her “special angel” Nancy Cummins survive.
A longtime member of St. Agnes Cathedral parish, she volunteered many years in the school cafeteria and with the Church mail crew. The family is eternally grateful to staff of the Manor of Elfindale as well as Hospice Compassus for their kind and loving care.
Visitation will be held at 9:30 AM, Monday, May 1, at St. Agnes Cathedral Chapel with funeral Mass following at 10:30 AM. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Springfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary’s honor may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o St. Agnes Cathedral, 533 S. Jefferson Ave, Springfield, MO 65806.
