Kenneth Eugene “Bahama John” Howell of Springfield, Missouri passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017, surrounded by loved ones at Mercy Hospital in Springfield at the age of 57. He was born August 7, 1959 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin.

Ken joined the United States Army at the age of 17 where he began his truck driving career traveling the world. He was currently employed by Pe Ben USA Inc, His fellow truck drivers knew him fondly as “Bahama John”.

Ken is survived by his parents Tony and Delores Howell of Springfield; his financee’ Brenda Howell of Springfield; sisters and brothers Lynn Russell of Tyler, Tx, Jeff Howell and wife Jenny of West Bend, Wi, Jerry “Bear” Howell and wife Sue of Newburg, Wi, Paula McIntosh and husband Lee of Marshfield, Mo, and Charles Howell and wife Tracy Lincoln, Mo; step children Deanna Daniels, Justin Daniels and wife Amber, and Rose Pope. He is also survived by many grandchildren, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Greg Howell and brother-in-law, Bob Russell.

A quote from one of his friends sums it well, “I don’t know what kind of project God has going on up there in heaven, but he obviously needed some kick *** stringer drivers. Bahama John and Vern are together again. A service with military honors Monday May 22, 2017 at 9am in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery with interment following the service. Cremation and arrangements are under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home in Springfield.
