Colonel Jose A.  Ocasio
Colonel Jose Antonio Ocasio, 71, of Republic, Missouri passed away Monday, February 27, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was born March 19, 1945 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, a son of Juan Ocasio and Carmen Marrero. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Jesus Ocasio, Jose M. Ocasio and Luis Ocasio.
Colonel Jose served the United States for 30 years of his life, in wars such as the Vietnam War, obtaining recognition with medals such as the Silver Star, Purple Heart, etc. He was a very kind and passionate man who blessed every heart he touched; with his words of wisdom, combat stories, and light-hearted jokes Jose befriended the world around him. In his spare time he enjoyed caring for his children, traveling around in his truck, staying up to date with political affairs, singing along to Marco Antonio Solís' songs, and watching TV (especially Old Westerns).
Colonel Jose was extremely caring, loving, and proud of his Children, Jose A. Ocasio, Alba Rocio Ocasio, Jose Alberto Ocasio, Jose Ariel Ocasio, Mariajose Ocasio-Vigil, and Dhaliamaris Ocasio-Vigil; and of his brothers and sisters, Juan Ocasio, Carmen Ocasio, Francisco Ocasio, Maria Fontanez, Andres Ocasio, Magdalena Ocasio, Victor Ocasio, Lauriano Ocasio, Roberto Ocasio, and Oscar Ocasio; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday March 3, 2017 in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with Msgr. Thomas Reidy celebrant.
