Patricia D. Engles (James)
Patricia Dale Engles (James) November 5, 1946 – January 1, 2017
On the morning of January 1, 2017, Patricia Dale Engles (James), age 70, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri while surrounded by her family. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 5, 1946 to Elizabeth and Edwin James. Her father was a career Air Force member, and Pat and her two younger brothers lived in several countries during his service. Soon after graduating high school in Southside, Arkansas, she was married to Bobby Forshee. They had one son, Todd, before she was widowed suddenly. After several years, she met and married Jack Engles of Batesville, Arkansas. They had one daughter, Stephanie. Pat worked at the Independence County Courthouse in Batesville for many years.
After her divorce, she relocated to El Paso, Texas with her lifelong friend, Carol Casey. There she went to back to school and earned her associate’s degree which was a great accomplishment. She moved back to Arkansas to care for her ailing mother. She was an excellent, compassionate, and empathetic caregiver. It was her gift. She then moved to Springfield, Missouri to be closer to her grandchildren and brother, Tim. She loved travelling to Seattle to visit her other grandson. She was very active in her parish, and volunteered to serve in hospice care through Mercy. She also went through training to help teach adults to read. She suffered many health issues and battled valiantly. She was a very loving, caring person who was loved by all who knew her. She was able to know and love two of her grandsons’ fiancés, as well as her great granddaughter. She was very happy her brother Tim and his family moved back to Springfield after many years away. She lived a full life and will be deeply missed.
A memorial mass will be held on January 5th at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Springfield. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Patricia’s name to the following: Mercy Hospice or Holy Trinity Catholic Church
