Obituary for Laverne Wilkerson

Laverne Wilkerson "Bad Stuff", age 55 of Springfield, Missouri passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016 in Springfield.

The daughter of Ellis Armstead, Jr. and Alice (Euell) Armstead was born April 18, 1961 in Newark, New Jersey.

When Laverne resided in Richmond, Indiana she was a CNA for Golden Rule Nursing Home and continued in the nursing field in Springfield, Missouri as a Home Health Care Aide for Inventive Strategy.

Family was the love of Laverne’s life. She gave advice and directed any and everyone in the right direction. She spoke her mind, always keeping it REAL. She was known for opening her arms and home to all in need. She was a pillar of the family and loved the Lord Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Vondell Patterson and Ellis Armstead III; and one sister, Linda Kirtz.

Survivors are her children, Francois Wilkerson, Alicia Wilkerson and her daughter Na’Kayla Rice, and Carlotta Wilkerson all of Richmond, Indiana; her companion, Darren “Squeaky” Robinson of Springfield, Missouri; and one brothers and eight sisters, Morris Armstead, Sr. and Darlene Armstead both of Richmond, Indiana and Delores Burden, Etta Matthews, Evon Gibbs and husband Ed, Mary Stewart and husband Robert, Tonya Houston, Cynthia Armstead and husband Tyrone, and Robin Walker all of Springfield, Missouri. She is also survived by 50 nieces and nephews and 123 great-nieces and nephews, along with great-greats and counting.

The family will gather and greet friends after 4:00 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2016 at Jalen’s Lounge, 1611 N. Campbell Avenue, Springfield, Missouri.
