They moved to Long Beach, CA when Howard joined the Navy. Two of their children were born while in California, Holly Lee Ferrell and Howard L. Reed, Jr. They moved back to Missouri. Howard and Jane started and established the original Reed Plumbing and Heating Company. This company was ran and operated for over 30 years. Along with answering phones and running the plumbing company, Jane decided to get her real estate license in 1979. She worked as a realtor for over 30 years. She spoke often about how much she liked working with the people. She worked off and on for Carol Jones Company. She said you could learn so much from Carol Jones, she had good ideas and a positive attitude. Jane was an enormous animal lover. She never met a stray cat that wasn’t fed. Her nickname was Mother Nature. They seemed to seek her out. She loved cats.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Howard L. Reed; daughter, Holly Lea Ferrell; son, Howard “Big” Reed Jr.; grandson, Coen Reed Wood; and parents, Annabelle and Jack Gilmore.

Jane is survived by her daughter, Velvet Shoults and her husband, Nick and daughter and “best friend” Candiance Clouse and her husband, Michael; 9 grandchildren, John Ferrell, David Ferrell, Nicky Perkins, Michael Reed, Jenny Stokes, Evan Clouse, Hunter Clouse, Will Shoults and Chance Reed; 7 great-grandchildren; and four living siblings.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Valley Hills Stables and Rescue (417-844-2937). This is a wonderful no kill shelter. A huge thank you to Fr. Alex Inke, of Mercy Hospital and Brooke Sutton, Kayleigh and Tracy Stark and Hunter Clouse for their continuous help and compassion for my mother. She thought they were all angels. And a big thank you to Michael Clouse, whom she said she thought of as a son. And to quote a wonderful lady, she would always answer with “I reckon so!”
