Willie (Richter) Roberts

Willie Roberts, 83, of Fair Grove passed from this life Mon, Feb 1, 2016 in the very early hours of the morning at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo.

Willie was born in Flippin, Ark. to William Herbert and Bitha McBee. She was the oldest daughter of 9 children, with 3 brothers, and 5 sisters.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Maynard Richter, a son, Randy Richter, a second husband Tom Roberts, her parents, 2 brothers, Agert and William McBee, and 2 sisters, Maxine Curran and Connie Maddox.

She is survived by her remaining siblings, Ila Joy Parks, Tommy Sue Luttjohann, Marlene Climer, and Carl McBee Sr. She is also survived by her children, Donna & Gary Medley of Dadeville, Stephen Richter, of Springfield, Gary & Judy Richter of Seymour, Larry and Rachel Richter of Fair Grove, Joseph Richter of Highlandville, Mary Ann Lackey of Springfield, George & Rhonda Richter of Cedar Lake, Indiana, Megan and Lucinda Roberts both of Springfield. She is survived by 15 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchild.

Willie and her first husband Maynard, became foster parents in 1969 and continued caring for foster children until Maynard passed away in 1983. Later Willie married Tom Roberts, and continued caring for foster children again with Tom and after he passed away, she continued alone. Over that time there were more than 400 children who passed through her home, and were shown what it was like to be cared for and loved, some for the first time in their lives. Willie was at her happiest when she was surrounded by children. They were the joy of her life.

Visitation will be in Herman Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut, on Wednesday, Feb 3rd, from 12:30-2:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM. with Rev Cecil Tolbert officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, or the American Heart Association.
