Mrs. Marian Frances Barile, age 93, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, Tuesday evening, January 16, 2018.

Mrs. Barile was born February 23, 1924 in Eudora, Mo., the eldest of four children. She graduated from Marion C. Early High School in 1942 and attended Springfield Business College. Shortly after, she met her future husband, Joseph A. Barile. He was a New Jersey native stationed at O’Reilly Hospital. They married in 1945.

Marian and Joe lived in New Jersey for several years and then came home to Springfield in 1954.

Mrs. Barile was a long-time member of the Daughters of Isabella, Franklin D. Roosevelt Women’s Democratic Club, and Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. She was an avid Fiber Artist, enjoyed knitting, sewing and was an award-winning quilt maker.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Mamie Robertson; her husband, Joseph; and her sisters, Marilea Burt and Betty Lawmaster.

She is survived by her four daughters, Linda, Jody, Frances (Johnny), and Mary Elizabeth (Dan). Eight grandchildren, Holly (Yale), Emily (Cam), Gina (Patrick), Josh (Kristy), Jennifer (Mike), Amy (Jon), Melissa (Brandon) and Julia. Nine great grandchildren, Aaron, Sebastian, Manny, Keziah, Baleigh, Maria, Peyton, Eliza and Jack. Her beloved brother, Bill, also survives.

Visitation will be held from 3:00-4:00p.m. Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street in Springfield, with a Rosary Service to begin at 4:00p.m. in the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00a.m., Monday, January 22, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2200 W. Republic Road in Springfield with Msgr. Thomas Reidy, celebrant. Burial will follow at Springfield National Cemetery, 1702 E. Seminole in Springfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to KSMU Ozarks Public Radio/Public Television Station or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
