Obituary for Burton R. Bengsch

Burton R.  Bengsch
Burton Robert Bengsch, 89, was born on January 31, 1925 to Ernest and Elizabeth “Lizzie” (Arnsmeyer) Bengsch in Billings, Mo and passed away on September 15, 2014 in Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo.

His confirmation in St. Peter’s Evangelical UCC in Billings was at a young age. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he returned home and married Helen Minor. To this union two sons were born, Bruce and Brian.

Burt made lifelong friends while working for Commercial Credit Co in Springfield and during his 30 year career in administration for Smith Glynn Callaway Clinic in Springfield. While working at the clinic and until the last of May this year, he continued to work on his farm and taking care of his cattle, traveling back and forth from Springfield each day.

Burt was preceded in death by his wife, Helen and his son, Bruce; as well as his parents, brother, Richard and his wife Dorothy; and sister, Agnes Hering and her husband Erwin.

Burt is survived by his wife of 17 years, Charline of the home; son, Brian and his wife Tracy; granddaughters, Jessica Bengsch and Kendal Eddings, and Kendal’s husband Bradley, Billings; nephew, Harold Bengsch and his wife Darlene, Springfield; great nieces, Meschiel Lankford and her husband Paul, Republic; and Kena Melton and her husband Mike, Springfield, and their families. Also surviving are six step-children, David, Drew and Darrell Harris, Springfield; Dena Erwin and husband Bob, Strafford; Donna Davis and husband David, Springfield; and Dee Ann Cole, Harrison, Ar,; 5 step-grandchildren; one step great granddaughter; and many good friends.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday September 18, 2014 in Meadors Funeral Chapel in Billings under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, Springfield, Mo. Burial will be in the family plot in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Billings, Mo at a later date.

Memorial visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday September 17, 2014 in Meadors Funeral Chapel in Billings.
