Obituary for Margie Josephine DeConto (Baker)

Margie (Tyrrell) DeConto, age 55 of Springfield, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Cox South Medical Center. She was born February 4, 1959 to George and Ernestine (Roe) Baker. She was a registered nurse, and had worked for Lakeland Regional Hospital. She married Joseph DeConto in Springfield on June 14, 2013. Mrs. DeConto was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Springfield. Also, Margie was an animal advocate who worked closely with SAAF. Their mission is to end pet overpopulation. She also fostered and adopted many animals. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, music, and taking care of her many animals.

She is survived by her husband; Joseph DeConto, a sister; Patricia Cunningham of Merced, California, her father and mother in law; Mr. & Mrs. Richard and Virginia DeConto of Winchester, MA, and Stephen and Ann DeConto also of Winchester, and Ralph and Brenda DeConto of Kissimee, FL, her nieces and nephews; Margo Lowe, Shawn Dugger, Christina Ballinger, Keith Medlin, Vicci Dickman, Mike Medlin, Tammy Maciocia, Dina Baker, Donna Lechhnette-Shelton, Cindy Holloway, Vicki David, Sherry Feldman, Cathy Gromer, Jerri Taykowski, Kelly Baker and Tim Turner, her friends; Kelly Johnson of Springfield, Laurel Bryant and Louie Layton of Springfield, Tammy McCray of Springfield, Karen Cummins of Springfield, Karen Carden of Springfield, Antoinette Williams, her hairdresser; Christine Vande Griend, and her hygienist; Shelly Hipsher, She was preceded in death by her four brothers; Don Baker, Jerome Baker, Bobby Baker and Troy Baker.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2014. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SAAF House 1600 North Washington Springfield, MO 65803. Arrangements are under the direction of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home.
