Obituary for Morris King Roseboom

Morris King  Roseboom
Morris King Roseboom was born on January 27, 1923, the oldest son of Morris Leonard and Edythe (King) Roseboom in Betula, Pennsylvania. He attended Smethport, PA public schools where he graduated in 1940.
As a young man, Morris worked for the local oil refinery, on dairy farms and golf courses to provide funds for his mother and 3 siblings when his father died in 1939.
He moved to Buffalo, New York in 1941 where he learned to grind and polish lenses for military gun sites while waiting to serve in World War II. He trained at Paris Island, SC and the Radio and Telephone school at New River, NC, Camp Pendleton, CA and Jacques tank farm in Amphibian Tanks. He proudly served in the 6th Defense Battalion on Midway Island and Maui Island in Hawaii with the 1st Joint Assault Signal Co. before being honorably discharged in August of 1945.
He returned to Pennsylvania after the war and married his longtime sweetheart, Lois E. Frankenfield on March 17, 1946. They moved to Sedalia, Missouri in 1947 where he worked for Pittsburgh Corning as a machinist. He also worked briefly as a machinist for the Bendix Corporation in Kansas City for the Atomic Energy Commission.
In 1960, he began work as a sales agent for Prudential Insurance Co. During his 24 years with Prudential, he attained the position of Sales Staff Manager in Sedalia until his retirement in 1984. He soon started and enjoyed a second career as a Real Estate Agent with Bob Schultz Realty.
Morris and Lois were married for 66 wonderful years until her death in 2012. They had 3 daughters: Dawn Carol Thomas, Barbara Lynn (Jim) Robinson and Mary Lee (Jim) Hamilton. They were blessed with 7 grandchildren: Lindsay (Thomas) Wirt, Preston King Thomas, Zack Robinson, Dr. Carrie Robinson, Riley Hamilton, Leah Hamilton and Lane Morris Hamilton.
Morris and Lois enjoyed traveling to all 50 United States, Canada and Europe, and often took their children and grandchildren on vacation. They loved square dancing in their early years, and Morris became an accomplished caller. They enjoyed playing bridge, attending the theatre, Symphony and outings with their large network of friends. Morris also enjoyed gardening, cooking and woodworking. His family and friends still cherish the wonderful things he made for them over the years.
He was awarded the Boy Scout Life Saving Award from the Lake of the Ozarks Council for using CPR to save a young boy from drowning in the Liberty Park Lagoon in 1958.
Morris was a 32nd degree Mason and held the position of Grand Master of Granite Lodge #272 in Sedalia in 1963. He was a Red Cross volunteer at Bothwell Hospital for more than 10 years and a member of First Christian Church in Sedalia where he served as Deacon, Elder and Elder Emeritus. He was also a member of the American Legion and the 40 & 8.
Morris loved his wife, his children, his God and his country. He will be inurned next to his loving wife at the Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to US Marine Corps Toys for Tots, Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity or the First Christian Church of Sedalia, MO.
