Obituary for William James Bettendorf

William James  Bettendorf
William James “Bill” Bettendorf, age 83, of Nixa, Missouri passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018.

Born to William and Ada Bettendorf on December 3, 1934 in Bird Island, Minnesota.

Retired United States Navy of 20 years. Bill was an Air Traffic Controllman. After retirement, Bill worked at Parkway Towers in Kansas City MO as an Operating Engineer for 17 years.

He and his wife lived in various places while in the Navy, including, Phillipines, Morrocco and New Finland, they enjoyed 62 wonderful and beautiful years together. Bill loved golf, his family, and his precious cat "Annie". He also loved working on projects, he was very handy and could make just about anything he set his mind to. Bill was a true gentleman who adored his family. He is well loved and will truly be missed.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alice Jeanne Bettendorf of Nixa Mo; one daughter, Diane Hardwick of Nixa Mo.; one deceased daughter, Cynthia Bettendorf; two deceased sons, William and Thomas Bettendorf; Bill has two sisters, Ruth Muewissen and Lucille Steffel of Minnesota; three granddaughters, Michelle and Connie Lea of Nixa Mo, and Alexis Underwood of Kansas; and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 South Southwood Road, Springfield, Missouri 65804 with Pastor Gray Nordan officiating. Full Military Honors will be rendered.
