Obituary for Danny J. Osredker

Danny J.  Osredker
Danny J. Osredker, 75 of Springfield, died on May 23, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Danny was born November 27, 1938, in Marshfield, Mo, to Anthony Bonaventure Osredker and Lillian Love Reynolds. He graduated from St. Agnes High School and went to work for the Springfield News Leader where he worked for 37 years. After retiring he went to work for Fisk Limosine where he drove shuttle bus around MSU campus and made several good friends there.
He married Martha Berlin in 1961and to that union were born 3 children. Mark, Stephanie and Angela. On January 16, 1981 he married Barbara Ann Lyman and they enjoyed 33 wonderful years together. Danny was an avid
fly fisherman and enjoyed going to Bennett Springs with his brother Kenneth (where he usually outfished him). Danny and his wife enjoyed treasure hunting for several years and he had the patience of Job to search out the hidden coins he was so proud to show off. Danny also played the guitar and made several recordings of old songs in his home. He had a beautiful singing voice and sang in the choir at St. Agnes Cathedral while in High School. Danny was an excellent self-taught woodworker and made many beautiful, unique frames for Barbara’s cross stitched pieces. In the last ten years he had fun with his beloved Yorkie, Duchess who adored him. Danny had a heart of gold and would help anyone, anytime.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Mary Ann Derrick.
He is survived by his wife Barbara, his three children Mark Osredker, (Limbania), Mesa, Az, Stephanie Carlson (Gunnar), Woodinville, Wa. and Angela Engelhart (David), His 4 stepchildren, Beverly Eli, (Ken), Barbara Eli, Betsy Poindexter (Max) and Bill Lyman. 13 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren, his brother, Kenneth (Ann) and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for many years.
Prayer service with visitation will be Tuesday, May 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 28 at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank Mercy Hospice especially Cheryl Simkins RN and Suzanne Utt, Nurses Aid, and the whole Hospice Organization for their wonderful care and loving support.
