Obituary for Steven Ray Mueller

Steven Ray  Mueller
Steven R. Mueller, 65, Springfield, Missouri, passed away at 11:05 p.m. Sunday, September 28th, 2014 in his home.

He was born July 31st, 1949 in Arkansas City, Kansas to Wallace and Gladys (Warren) Mueller. He attended Coffeyville (KS) High School and Pittsburg (KS) State University. Mr. Mueller was an U. S. Army veteran during the Vietnam era, having served in Thailand as a communications specialist. He married Mary Shobe on May 26th, 1973 in Sedan, Kansas. Mr. Mueller made a career as a human resources director for several manufacturing plants in Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. Over the last 20 years he worked alongside his wife to enrich the landscape around their home and make it a featured stop on the Springfield Master Gardeners tour. He was a life long Methodist and served as a lay minister for the church. For 15 years Mr. Mueller worked as the Poultry Superintendent at the Ozark Empire Fair and enjoyed showing his prize winning White-Crested Black Polish chickens. He was active in many civic organizations and always enjoyed helping others. He was an avid amateur genealogist. He came from a family of sports fans and always enjoyed watching baseball and football, particularly the Kansas City Chiefs. He was a kind and compassionate man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Mueller; his sons, J. W. Mueller and Wade Mueller; and his older siblings, Fred Mueller of Andale, Kansas and Peggy Goddard of Atlanta, Georgia.

A Celebration of Life tribute will be held at a future date.
