Obituary for Irene Elizabeth Hofmann (Lindsley)

Irene Elizabeth Hofmann, age 98 of Springfield, Missouri formerly of Naples, Florida and New York, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Maranatha Manor in Springfield.

She was born December 8, 1917 in White Sulphur Springs, New York the daughter of J. Bruce and Lillian (Ryder) Lindsley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Hofmann, Sr.; her five brothers and their wives, Jess and Hilda, Horton and June, Feldon and Jennie, Milton and Anne, and Nial and Ginny Lindsley; and her husband’s sister, Emily Hofmann.

Irene was a member of White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church in New York. She had been a licensed hairdresser for 68 years, which she truly enjoyed. She also enjoyed cooking.

Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, John and Marti Hofmann of Fair Grove, Missouri and daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou Hofmann and Al Sargent of Auburn, Maine; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Cremation and arrangements are being handled under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home in Springfield, Missouri.

There is no service planned at this time.
